Our commitment to the communities of Knowsley saw us partnering with PLACED to develop a bespoke programme aimed at inspiring and building confidence in young people and highlighting all the wonderful careers available in the construction industry. The programme was heavily focussed on interaction and team work.
Throughout the year, we accept children and young adults for work experience placements, as well as attending careers days in schools. We also participate in the RIBA Student Mentoring Programme, inviting undergraduates for discussions, presentations and visits to projects and sites. Each year we commit to employing trainee part 1 and part 2 architects and work closely with Liverpool-based universities.
Outreach activity is so important in areas where talented individuals face multiple barriers that can easily prevent their participation. We had incredible support from our team on site and key supply chain partners both financially and with speaking with young people about career paths into the industry. All of this resulted in amazing feedback and ongoing support for participants from Placed.
