SKILLS SESSION: Manchester cohort meet WEDGE Collective

In Manchester on Tuesday 10th February, long-time PLACED collaborators and creative consultants, WEDGE Collective, delivered their second skills sessions focused on shaping ideas for how the PLACED Academy website should look, feel and function. As well as exploring the tone of voice and language that best represent PLACED Academy.

Through a variety of activities, the young people explored what works (and doesn’t) on example websites ranging from BEgg to Superlist. They evaluated different brands’ language and tone and assessed if they matched their aesthetics and visual identity. They studied different website wireframes and then designed their own for the Academy. They finished the session by thinking about the future Academy website through the eyes of three key users: young people, sponsors and parents.

This is the third live skills session within the Academy programme, where our young people will directly influence the visuals and language of the programme and see their work being realised within the Academy brand.

Massive thanks to Jodie Greenwood and Abi Greenwood from WEDGE Collective for sharing their expertise with our young people. Thanks to Penny Langton from Cityheart for also supporting the workshop.

Thank you to Manchester School of Architecture for hosting us!
