“Encouraging the brightest and best young talent to build a rewarding and fulfilling career within the built environment sector is critical to the future prosperity of our industry. For a sector that is fundamental to our health, wellbeing and way of life, we often fail to properly articulate the wealth of opportunities that exist for aspirational young people, especially those with limited direct connections to the industry through family and friends.

“The PLACED Digital Academy is an excellent way for us to reach out to those audiences and high-achieving individuals who might never have considered a career within construction, challenging outdated perceptions and providing a real insight into this dynamic and tech-led global sector. We are looking forward to working closely with students over the course of the year.”

We are ISG, a global construction specialist delivering places where people and businesses thrive. Our vision comes to life through partnership. We build relationships on trust, collaboration and open communication, because it’s the only way to create places as smart and resilient as the people who use them. We’ve come this far because we embrace change; we don’t just talk about what our industry needs to shape its future, we’re also working to make it happen. We need innovative and creative skills, along with diversity and fresh thinking, to reflect the clients we work with and the communities we work in.

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

“Devolution means bringing power from Whitehall and Westminster to a local level.  It is based on the obvious truth that local people know what’s best for their communities.  That’s why we were keen to partner with PLACED Academy as part of getting closer to local communities to find out what’s important to them.   We will then use that information to inform the Combined Authority’s future plans and activity.”

The Combined Authority is led by Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and brings together Liverpool City Region’s six local authorities – Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral – to tackle the big issues that matter to us all.

We work together to make an impact in areas such as transport, employment and skills, culture, digital and housing. By using the devolved powers we have, we can make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of the people living and working in the area.

“Supporting the development of new talent in our sector is at the heart of ArchiPhonic’s values. The PLACED Academy paves a way into our sector for young people from diverse backgrounds and helps to raise not just awareness of career opportunities but also their aspirations.

With the UK experiencing a dire shortage of architects and placemaking professionals, it has never been more important to give young people the support and skills they need to break into the sector. We’re looking forward to doing this through our partnership with PLACED.”

ArchiPhonic is a Liverpool City Centre-based practice that seeks to deliver positive change through architectural design. Working closely with contractors, developers and property professionals, they seek to understand the challenges they face, managing restrictive budgets, complex sites, constrained environments and high client expectations. They know the best solutions don’t always come easily and they take on that challenge on, so their clients don’t have to. As professional problem solvers, they work with our clients to make sure the designs they create are buildable, sustainable, profitable and offer long-term functionality.
